Graduate Programs

The Institute for Physical Science and Technology offers interdisciplinary graduate programs in Applied Mathematics & Statistics, and Scientific Computation; Biophysics; and Chemical Physics.

The AMSC program, which ranks No. 13 in the nation, promotes training in interdisciplinary research, offering students great flexibility in pursuing their diverse research interests.

AMSC is sponsored by the Department of Mathematics, the Center for Scientific Computation and Mathematical Modeling, and the Institute for Physical Science and Technology and has approximately 150 faculty members from 40 different units at UMD.

 

The Biophysics Program brings together faculty from Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, and Physics to work on questions at the intersection of the physical and life sciences.
