Research Interests: Professor Oran’s current interests are in the fluid dynamics of high-speed, compressible reactive flows, turbulence in reacting and nonreacting flows, computational fluid dynamics, dynamics of flames, fires and detonations, explosions, multiphase flows, energetic materials, rarefied gases (reentry flows and microfluidics), physical of explosions, shock and shock interactions, astrophysical phenomena (particularly supernovae and jets), biological flows in complex networks, microfluidics for sensor design, computational sciences and numerical analysis, high-performance computing and parallel computing architectures.
