Craig J. Sansonetti
Researcher

Research Interests

Craig is interested in the analysis and theoretical interpretation of atomic spectra, high precision measurements for simple atomic systems, and techniques and standards for precise wavelength measurements. His activities include work with both classical spectrometers and with single-frequency tunable lasers. Recent projects have included an extensive analysis of the spectrum of singly-ionized Hg photographed with high-resolution grating spectrographs, infrared spectra of the noble gases by Fourier transform spectroscopy, precise wavelength measurements for the lasing transitions in a 157 nm molecular fluorine laser for VUV lithography, laser observations of low lying levels in atomic lithium as a fundamental test of atomic theory, and development of precise wavelength standards in the Doppler-free spectrum of molecular iodine.
