Bio: Rachel received her degree in Chemistry (BA) and Physics (BS) from Denison University. While in her undergrad she worked on understanding dynamic transitions of Myosin VI motors, which are a key component in genetic deafness. Before joining the Biophysics PhD program, Rachel work as a Visiting Research Fellow in theoretical chemistry at the Technische Universität Darmstadt. Currently, Rachel is working with Dr. Alexander M. Xu at the University of Maryland in the field of Spatial Biology, looking at how statistical physics and thermodynamics can be applied to better understand cell communication and cellular architectures. When Rachel is not in lab, you can find her outside enjoying the local hiking, running and biking scenes of Maryland and the greater DMV area!
