Tadmor awarded 2022 Wiener Prize
Distinguished University Professor Eitan Tadmor (IPST/Mathematics) will receive the 2022 AMS-SIAM Norbert Wiener Prize in Applied Mathematics for his original contributions to applied and numerical analysis with applications in fluid dynamics, image processing, and collective dynamics. The prize also recognizes the significant impact of Tadmor’s fundamental work in theory and computation of nonlinear partial differential equations
The prize is awarded every three years for an outstanding contribution to applied mathematics in the highest and broadest sense. The AMS and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) award the prize jointly.
Tadmor joined the University of Maryland in 2002 as Director of the Center for Scientific Computation and Mathematical Modeling. He held that position until 2016. He was recognized by the University as a Distinguished University Professor in 2005.
